I am an avid protein folder but unless I stop the gpu working you app get so slow I can wait 5min for it to draw the table,
Or if I click to select another task the thing freeze for some 3min...
I don't know how that can happen, I ca usually play video and all while folding@home is running.
Thanks For this great program,,, |

Hi,
I'm sorry TaskAngel isn't working well for you when folding@home is running.
Are you using TaskAngel version 1.2? This has better performance than the original version 1.0.
TaskAngel 1.2 uses .NET Framework 2.0, and so does folding@home. You could try reinstalling .NET Framework 2.0, and also installing the latest service packs.
Please let me know if this gives you any improvement.
Thanks, Andrew

No improvement, I have installed AlacrityPC a software that manage to kill program (folding) while another run (taskangel).
Unfortunately it has it's problem, I can't command it to kill folding only when taskangel is on screen, and I would like to keep TA running in my systray.
I can notice the drawing taking ~1.5 sec when nothing run on GPU. I have made some tests, and TaskAngel uses exactly 5% of the GPU cycle to draw cells of the table.
Given I'm on a relatively high end GTX260 @ 720mhz. Something must be wrong. ?
For reference Spinning the globe full speed on Google earth take ~5% GPU (1024x768) and 7~10% at 1920x1080
Why is it using the GPU anyway ?
note: I have the latest .Net 4.0 |

Hi,
There seems to be a general problem with the GPU affecting the performance of .NET apps like TaskAngel. This is discussed on the folding@home support forum here: http://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=9383&start=0
I suggest you ask the folding@home support team how to reduce the impact on the performance of .NET apps.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. We've introduced double-buffering into our main task list window, to fix a problem with flickering reported by another customer. If this fixed the problem with protein folding too, then that's great.
Best wishes
